Hi streamers,

We have initiated a High Definition streaming test on the Internet.

The goal of this test is to collect detailed information on stability
and quality of HD video streams (3-6Mbps) on consumer grade broadband
(DSL, Cable, Fiber, Wireless) connections in the Netherlands.

We selected WMV9 and H.264 so HD can be streamed with good quality on
5Mbps to 10Mbps consumer grade links. We collect technical data from
our servers (stream QoS).

We also collect end-user feedback (such as link details, ISP, home
network, client PC, software, prime-time use and their personal
experience).

We invite you to join our test, so we can get feedback from a larger
group of end users and network owners. We will share the details with
everyone who joined the test.

With the collected information, we will hopefully get better insight
on high bitrate stream stability during low traffic and prime time
hours on various networks and actual end-user setups.

With this information, we can better cooperate with ISP's in
improving their and our infrastructures to optimize content QoS. QoS
is very important for end users to adopt online quality content
services.

Who are invited to join?

- End users and professionals with: a fast broadband (4Mbps or
higher, 8Mbps or higher preferred) consumer grade link, a modern PC
or Mac, with Windows Media Player, QuickTime Pro, and a HD capable
display (TFT, LCD or Plasma with 1280*720 resolution or higher.

- ISP's interested in improvements are invited to test their own
broadband links in separate branches of their networks.

- Content owners interested in QoS and HD streams are invited to
offer some HD quality titles (we can help you to encode these)

Our decentralized CDN in the Netherlands can be used in the test so
we can test HD streams from multiple physical hosting sites. Some of
these servers are on-network, others are located at third party sites.

ISP's are invited to join forces so we can test on-network QoS
opposed to off-network QoS.

Forwarding this invitation to other potential testers is appreciated :)

Please contact me for details,

Stef
