Hoi streamers,

we hebben een HD demo vod stream online gezet:

High Definition grade VOD web streaming
[HD] (+5Mbps) 720p
[SD] (+2Mbps) PAL
This MPEG-4 (H.264) video streams from our primary StreamZilla server  
with 1Gbps backbone connection.

If your connection is fast (for HD it really should be fast) the  
video should start immediately. Our office is at a 10Mbps  
professional link and we can playback 2 HD streams simultaneously on  
a single PC, without any buffering. We also have seen the server  
burst up to 20Mbps per stream.

During playback, you can grab the slider and drag (or random click)  
through the time bar. Note the realtime visual feedback and instant  
playback. Even we are impressed! (Also impressed by the new dual core  
CPU which allows us to actually encode a HD stream and playback 2 HD  
streams simultaneously without noticeably hiccups :)

Note: for this demo you need at least 6Mbps professional internet  
access (or 20Mbps consumer grade internet access), a powerful PC or  
Mac, QuickTime 7 installed, at least a 1280x720 screen estate and a  
bit of luck that the Internet offers enough bandwidth between our  
server and your ISP.

To be able to distribute HD bandwidth VOD streams in volume to end  
users, we are rolling out bigger core platforms. To transparently  
redirect users to Edge VOD media servers we have redesigned our  
'Rediraptor' tool. We now support global ISP IP-ranges that can be  
matched to Edge servers, and of course we support multiple players  
and other smart metadata, load balancing and referer tricks.
